Successful participants will also be entitled to the IRU Senior Executive Education Certificate and will be able to benefit from UND trainings with a 50 percent discount.
An online opening meeting was held to introduce Young UND to the sector. UND Board of Directors Chairman Çetin Nuhoğlu and Istanbul University Transportation and Logistics Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Abdullah Okumuş, who made speeches at the opening, explained that the program will add expert managers to the logistics sector and make a great contribution to the development of the sector.

NUHOĞLU: YOU WILL BE THE LEADERS OF THE FUTURE

UND Board Chairman Çetin Nuhoğlu, emphasizing the importance of education in the logistics sector, explained the struggle UND gave in establishing the first college. Çetin Nuhoğlu, who said, “We were talking with the late Saffet Ulusoy that the logistics sector should have a school, we achieved this with Istanbul University,” said that they established Turkey’s most modern logistics faculty with the support of 100 logistics companies. President Nuhoğlu emphasized that the number of logistics vocational schools increased rapidly and the quality of education decreased, and that they established the first and only Faculty of Logistics in Turkey together with Istanbul University, and said, “Currently, this school organizes doctoral and master’s degree programs. This University is now the center of logistics education.” Nuhoğlu stated that UND has been determining the trends in the sector for 47 years, is a solution address in the eyes of ministries, and carries out serious organizations with international collaborations, and emphasized that it is one of the most powerful civil society organizations in Turkey.
Nuhoğlu, who stated that world trade has changed with the pandemic and new trends have emerged, stated that the period in which countries provide supply from countries and regions close to their own geography has begun and that Turkey is one of the important countries in this regard. Nuhoğlu said, “Turkey has a great logistics advantage both due to its regional location and the accumulation it has gained so far. There is no other country that can do this job as well as we can. We could have done even more, but we could not because our hands were tied in some areas.” Addressing the Young UND participants, whose number of members exceeded 400, Çetin Nuhoğlu said, “We are not a sector that only practices a profession. We are logisticians, we are transporters, what we do will increase the performance of the sectors. You are the leaders of the future. You will work as a boss, as a general manager. You need to see where the company is going at a glance. You need to know law, civil law, finance and tax. Don't rush, we will prepare you for the future with the support of UND and Istanbul University,” he said.

OKUMUŞ: OUR FACULTY WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAM WITH CLOSE COOPERATION WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND QUALIFIED ACADEMIC STAFF

Prof. Dr. Abdullah Okumuş, Dean of Istanbul University's Faculty of Transportation and Logistics, gave information about the trainings provided by their faculties and made the following assessment about the new program: “The program will last 60 hours and the trainings will be given by Istanbul University's more than 40 strong instructor staff. In addition, the trainings will be supported with webinars to be given by expert logisticians in the field. In the upcoming period, the trainings will be given face-to-face depending on the course of the pandemic. We plan to continue this program, which we carry out jointly with UND, every year. I invite everyone who is thinking of making a career in this sector to participate in the program,” he said.
